From Raymont to Cambodia: Jack Reinbott’s Story of Service

Raymont alumnus Jack Reinbott recently travelled to Cambodia to participate in a development initiative with Raw Impact, contributing to the relocation of families displaced by severe flooding. Situated on the outskirts of Phnom Penh, the ‘Every Piece Matters Bamboo Village’ project seeks not only to provide durable, tangible housing for affected communities, but also to cultivate long-term resilience through education, community development, and sustainable living practices.

Reflecting on his experience, Jack recounts his involvement in the construction of four complete bamboo homes as part of a team of 65 volunteers, serving families ranging in age from one day old to sixty years. “A baby was born during the time I was there,” he notes. Through this initiative, more than forty Cambodian families have been relocated from conditions of extreme vulnerability, and, as Jack observes, “they have been empowered with life-changing opportunities.”

As a former Residential Assistant at Raymont College, Jack’s commitment to leadership and communal responsibility is well established. His continued engagement with Raw Impact reflects a sustained investment in meaningful, service-oriented work. We celebrate such expressions of vocation among our alumni, recognising in them the formation of both character and vision through experiences that yield not only immediate impact but enduring perspective and relationships. As Jack himself reflects, “to play even the smallest part in the generational change that Raw Impact seeks to implement has been the absolute highlight of my life thus far… and to experience first-hand the gratitude of the local Cambodian people was incredible.”

Well done, Jack!
