Wellbeing + Support

The wellbeing of our students is our primary focus at Raymont. While academic excellence has a high value, we recognise that students flourish in an environment where every area of life is supported to be the best it can be.

The College offers a holistic range of supports, from sport and physical fitness, to tutorials and academic support, to social and spiritual outlets.

Academic support

Raymont College prides itself on maintaining a culture of academic excellence where students can connect with likeminded peers who are eager to flourish in their studies.

Along with our tutorial program, our Emeritus Academic Advisor, Dr Dale Mason is available for more focused support concerning all things academic life. From crafting a resume, changing degree pathways, connecting with industry mentors, applying for scholarships, and preparing for job interviews. Dr Dale, as he is affectionately known, also frequently assists students with further opportunities through his wide network of academic contacts.

Current tutorials include:

  • Essay writing
  • Humanities
  • Information Technology and Computer Science
  • Engineering and Mathematics
  • Health Sciences
  • Music

Sport + fitness

Raymont College participates in a fun and competitive inter-university social sporting program. Each semester teams compete in sports such as touch football, soccer, basketball, volleyball, mixed netball, and cricket. Our onsite facilities include a well-equipped gym (with designated female-only times), volleyball court with basketball hoop and a pool. The College is located a short distance from the Mount Coot-tha area with its diverse outdoor offerings including bushwalking and downhill mountain biking.

You can also join the Raymont Run Club! Each weekend students and staff meet to participate in local Parkruns and catch up over coffee after.

Social + spiritual

Raymont College hosts a vibrant social life for students to make friends and have fun. Our Residents Association Team (Res) organize a number of fun events throughout the year like barefoot bowls, dressup croquet, our annual Battle of the Bands competition, coastal trips, theme park visits, and our end of year Raymont Gala.

While there is absolutely no requirement that students identify with any religion, Raymont does have an active Christian fellowship group that meets regularly to learn, encourage and grow in their faith. On Friday nights students gather together in the chapel to not only build relationships through games and activities, but to also grow spiritually together as a community of people with diverse backgrounds.

Fellowship is a warm, friendly, and inclusive space for all people to build relationships and talk about things that matter.

Raymont Residential College’s Chaplain is David Strachan. He works closely with the Principal and Deputy Principal to offer support to students and help them flourish in all areas. As a Raymont Alumni, David has deep experience with the unique challenges of the age and stage of life that our students are in, and is perfectly placed to help them flourish in all areas.
